2. Dry roasted almonds - eating a handful of dry roasted almonds can settle your stomach and neutralize its acids. As an added bonus, almonds are a good source of energy and healthy fatty acids.

3. Apple cider vinegar - while it may seem contradicting to ingest an acidic substance in order to cure heartburn, those who have tried apple cider vinegar swear that it works. You can down about two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar if you can tolerate the taste. If you cannot, you might find it easier to dilute the same amount in about 8 ounces of water.

4. Pure honey - eating a couple of spoons of honey can stop heartburn discomfort. The thick texture and sweet taste of honey takes some getting used to though, it felt rather weird coming down the throat at first. But it works.

5. Milk - downing a full glass one sip at a time can settle your stomach, especially if the heartburn is due to hyper-acidity rather than acid reflux.

6. Saltines - eating some saltine crackers absorbs the stomach acids that have managed to seep into the esophagus.
